At Artifex Home LLC, we believe each project presents unique and exciting design-build challenges. We are driven to find a solution to make your home more useful, more beautiful, and a place you're proud to call home.
Our special area of expertise is in the design and fabrication of cabinetry for the many 18th, 19th, and early 20th century homes of New England and the New York Tri-State Area. Designing and building for old homes presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities. In old homes, the crooked plaster walls, sagging floors, and odd nooks and crannies require special attention to realize their full utility. Fully custom cabinetry takes full advantage of every inch, adding beauty and utility to lovely old homes for the next century-plus.
From initial consultation through building, finishing, and installing, our goal is to add beauty and utility to your home. Please contact us today to learn more.
About the Partners:
Drew began building with Legos as a child and hasn't stopped building since. Working as a consultant in Boston after studying math and art at Bowdoin College, Drew quickly found that his passion for designing and building was too strong to ignore. As a result he joined a design/build firm in the Boston area that specializes in restoring period homes. It was this apprenticeship that gave him a strong appreciation for old homes and the beauty sometimes buried under layers of thoughtless renovations. After relocating to New York City, Drew spent time working at high-end millwork and custom furniture shops continuing to hone his skills before venturing out on his own. He started Artifex Home with his dad in 2017.
Jim spent his career as a marketing professional at several blue chip companies. During that time he always found time to build something for family and friends improving on the skills he first learned as a teenager. In 2008 he and his wife, Sharyn, moved to a circa 1930’s home in need of serious updating which resulted in a room-by-room make over. Their work was recognized and featured as a cover story in This Old House magazine. In 2017 Jim decided to pursue his passion for design and fabrication and started Artifex Home with his son, Drew.
Though a demanding shop foreman, Drew and Jim have found he can easily be persuaded with treats and head scratches.
They turned my dark dreary window seat into a beautiful functional office desk and shelf system. I really enjoyed my experience working with Drew and Jim and will definitely be using them again for all my home projects!

Great Addition to my Home!
Artifex has built two pieces of furniture for my small apartment, and they designed pieces that are unique and fit in perfectly with the aesthetic of my Brooklyn home. They combine function and style in a way that makes their furniture truly special.

Drew created a custom piece for our new home -- it was truly unique and elegant. We wanted a creative way to store memories, and he came up with the idea of a display case for wine corks. Imaginative and exquisite craftsmanship!

Thank You Artifex Home!
Drew's craftsmanship is unparalleled. The attention to detail and effort put into his work is vibrantly apparent in the final product. In fact, Drew's first piece for us was so nice that we decided to display it instead of use it! He made a second one that we use on a daily basis. We would highly recommend Artifex Home to anyone looking for unmatched design, professionalism, and execution.
